Creating DVD movies in Linux

Making a DVD quality movie in Linux is fun. To make a DVD of your choice you will need to follow only three steps and requires three pieces of software: a BitTorrent client to download the movie with, software to do the conversion to MPEG2 format, a process called transcoding, and an authoring software that can create the menus and file structure for the DVD. Although the authoring program can also burn the DVD, but I choose to use a DVD burning software. (more…)

Reliance Broadband – poor service

I had a mixed experience with the local operators as well as the ISP providing Internet in Kolkata. After having broadband connection at my home for nearly 2 years, today I really doubt if these peoples has a good intention to do a proper business and give a good customer support. I have worst experience with Reliance and a mixed experience with Sify. (more…)

Pagefile.sys

pagefile.sys is a Windows system generated file that gets created while the system boots. This is basically a windows version of the swap file that is used to swap pages of memory to disk when they are not used. I faced an issue with the file as it took a big chunk of space from my primary ( Windows) partition ( c:\ ) and I got a Low disk error although there was no other file in that partition other than the windows files and a few drivers.
